University of Colorado

The 179,000 SF Visual Arts Complex (VAC) provided a much-needed new home for the Art Museum and fine arts programs at the University of Colorado's scenic Boulder campus. In the instructional wing, interior finishes were kept simple and elegant, recognizing that the walls would soon be filled with the work of students and faculty. Materials used throughout include beautiful beech wood millwork, stainless steel detailing, and richly colored concrete flooring.

The CU Art Museum facility is a refined, flexible building, suitable for the world-class aspirations of the organization. Storage, ceiling layouts, lighting and HVAC were carefully designed to exacting standards. The exhibition space features concrete flooring that was custom formulated and colored to maintain its beauty for many years. The project is LEED Certified Gold. (Exterior photo: Nate Rehlander)
